Who owns the hotel guest?

There are a number of hot topics going around – and we have discussed those several times here and normally cover revenue management and rate parity. One more discussion point around the industry is “who owns the guest”.

We have seen a small number of hotel booking engines withhold email addresses from guests prior to arrival. Now on the case is Expedia. They have now announced that they will withhold the name and phone number of the guest pre-arrival.
